Story

Story is an English word name referring to a narrative or an account of events. Its literary connection is immediate: the word can bring to mind books, family memories, or the stories people tell about their lives. Those associations are personal interpretations of an ordinary word rather than an ancient hidden meaning.

Actors Jenna Elfman and Soleil Moon Frye chose Story for sons, while the name is also used for girls. It belongs alongside other literary word names such as Fable and Sonnet, though each points to a different kind of writing. Story is broad enough to suggest family storytelling without requiring a child to follow a parent’s profession or become a writer.
