Tiara

Tiara is taken from the English word for a jeweled headdress, a word that came through Latin from Greek. The modern image is often a delicate crown worn for a formal occasion. Its history as an object word is older and broader than the princess association that many English speakers first imagine.

As a personal name, Tiara makes its image immediately visible: ornament, celebration, and a touch of ceremony. It belongs with word names whose meaning is understood without a long explanation, while its three-syllable shape gives it the rhythm of a more traditional given name. Tiarra is a spelling variant, but the single-r Tiara keeps the clearest connection with the ordinary English word.
