Tiffany

Tiffany is an English form descended from Theophania, a Greek name referring to a manifestation of God. It has a medieval history connected with the Christian feast of Epiphany, long before modern associations with jewelry or film. Those later references are part of how many people recognize Tiffany today, but they did not create the name’s original meaning.

Tiff offers a short everyday form, while the full name has three clearly separated syllables. Theophania makes the Greek connection more explicit but creates a very different sound and length. Parents considering Tiffany can decide whether its religious background, a family namesake, or the familiar modern name itself is the main reason for choosing it.
