Vienna

Vienna is the English name of Austria’s capital used as a personal name. The older place-name has several proposed explanations, so meanings such as forest stream or white foundation should not be treated as a single settled translation. The city connection is much clearer.

Vienna can evoke music, architecture, or a family’s own memory of the city, but those are personal associations rather than literal meanings. Wien is the German city name, not simply an alternative English baby-name spelling. Families can choose Vienna for a place connection or its sound while acknowledging the uncertainty of the oldest etymology.
