Yannick

Yannick began as a familiar form of Yann, the Breton equivalent of John. It can also relate to the feminine Yanna, which helps explain its use for both boys and girls in Breton and French. Through the John family, its roots reach Hebrew and the meaning God is gracious.

Brittany is central to the name's history, while wider French usage has made it recognizable beyond the region. Tennis player Yannick Noah is a prominent bearer of the masculine name. Yannig, Yanick, and Yannic offer related spellings, but Yannick's double n and final ck give this form its familiar appearance. A family considering it can preserve a connection with John or Yann while choosing a name that reflects a specifically Breton and French path through that large name family.
