Yulia

Yulia is a Latin-letter spelling of a name used in Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian. It belongs to the Julia family, ultimately connected with the Roman family name Julius. The older name's derivation is uncertain, so youthful should be treated as a familiar interpretation rather than a completely settled translation.

Yuliya is another way of representing the Cyrillic forms, while Julia is the familiar spelling in many other languages. The initial y in Yulia helps an English reader recognize the opening sound of these Eastern European forms. A family's preferred spelling may preserve the way a relative's name has long been written in Latin letters.
