Yuliana

Yuliana is a form of Juliana used in Russian and other language traditions. It belongs to the ancient Roman Julius name family, whose deeper origin is uncertain. Explanations involving youth or Jupiter are traditional proposals, rather than two literal meanings that can be confidently combined into one phrase.

The initial y represents the sound heard at the beginning in these languages, while Juliana uses the familiar j spelling found elsewhere. Yulianna is a related written form, and Yulia belongs to the same wider family. Yuliana’s longer ending gives it a different rhythm from Yulia without making it a newly invented name. The language and original spelling help explain its place within this old international family.
