Zack

Zack is a familiar short form of Zachary or Zachariah, names in a Hebrew family associated with the meaning “Yahweh has remembered.” The ck ending gives the short form its own English spelling. It preserves the older relationship without needing to repeat the longer name's exact letters.

Zach and Zac are close alternatives, while Zack makes the final k sound especially apparent. Some families also use the sound as a nickname for Isaac, a different name with a different meaning. Choosing Zack as the complete name is possible, but identifying the intended longer relative helps explain whether its story is one of remembrance or a separate family connection.
