Zaina

Zaina is an Arabic name associated with beauty or adornment and connected with the name element seen in Zain and Zayn. Zayna is another way of writing the feminine form in the Latin alphabet. This explanation is clearer than treating Zaina automatically as a shortened Zaynab, a separate established name with its own history.

The ai and ay spellings can represent a similar intended sound, so the choice may reflect family convention rather than a different meaning. Zaina is a complete name, not necessarily a nickname. Families honoring a Zain or Zayn can make that relationship explicit while keeping the exact spelling preferred in their language and community.
