Zia

Zia has several naming routes that should be kept distinct. In Arabic-related usage it is a spelling associated with light or radiance, also represented by Ziya. It can separately be a short form of names such as Luzia in Portuguese. A nickname's fuller name may therefore explain a different family history from the Arabic route.

Zia also happens to be the Italian word for an aunt, which may be a noticeable everyday association in an Italian-speaking family. Basketball player Zia Cooke and musician Zia McCabe are recognizable bearers. The same spelling also occurs in community and place names, but those coincidences should not be treated as evidence that every personal name Zia belongs to those cultures.
