Zuriel

Zuriel is a Hebrew biblical name built around words for a rock and God. The usual translation, “God is my rock,” uses the image of rock as a source of steadiness and protection. In the Book of Numbers, Zuriel is named as a leader among the Merarite families of the Levites, giving the name a specific place in the biblical record.

The final -el places Zuriel alongside many Hebrew names that include a reference to God, including Daniel and Gabriel. It has also been given to girls in contemporary usage, although the biblical bearer is male. Its less familiar opening distinguishes it from those better-known choices while preserving a recognizable Hebrew structure and a complete, meaningful statement.
