Alana

Alana is a feminine form of Alan, a name with a long Breton and wider European history but an uncertain deeper meaning. Interpretations involving a rock or beauty are often repeated, yet neither should be treated as settled for every Alana. The direct relationship with Alan is the clearest explanation of this naming route.

Lana offers a shorter everyday form, while Alanna and Alannah are close spelling alternatives. The middle vowel can vary between families and languages. Alana may honor an Alan without repeating his name exactly, and that connection can be explained without adding unrelated Hawaiian or Hebrew meanings simply because other words or names look similar.
