Alena

Alena is used in naming traditions related to Helen and Helena, and it can also be understood through other local short-form histories. The familiar light-related interpretation comes from the Helen family, whose deeper etymology is debated. A collection of unrelated meanings should not be treated as if each one applies to every Alena.

Lena is an available shortening, while Elena and Helena are useful comparisons within the same broad family. Pronunciation differs by language, including the middle vowel and stress. The exact form used by a relative or community can therefore explain Alena more clearly than its spelling alone, particularly in a multilingual household.
