Lena

Lena can develop as a short form of names such as Helena or Magdalena, and it is also used independently. Its meaning therefore depends on the name family behind it. Treating every Lena as “light,” “noble,” or “delicate” would hide those different histories.

Singer Lena Horne and actress Lena Headey are familiar bearers. English-speaking families may use different first-vowel sounds, so spelling alone does not always settle pronunciation. Choosing Lena as the complete name keeps the written form brief; using it as a nickname preserves a longer family or cultural connection. Neither approach requires changing the everyday name.
