Alexandros

Alexandros is the Greek form of Alexander, combining elements associated with defending and with men or people. It preserves the full Greek ending that was adapted in many later languages. The name is therefore the starting point for a wide international family, rather than a newly expanded version of English Alexander.

Alexander the Great is the best-known historical bearer of that family, but the name's use extends far beyond one ruler. In Greek-language naming, Alexandros remains a recognizable personal name with its own spoken form and conventions. It can be a direct way to preserve Greek heritage while still giving English-speaking relatives a familiar connection through Alexander.
