Annette

Annette is a French familiar form of Anne, ultimately connected with Hannah and the meaning “grace.” The ette ending is part of a French diminutive pattern. It gives Annette its own established form without turning the name into a separate phrase or adding a second unrelated meaning.

Anne and Annie offer shorter everyday options, while Annette keeps the emphasis and final consonant of the fuller French form. Annetta provides a related ending to compare. A family honoring an Anne or Hannah can use Annette to preserve the name family while choosing a different rhythm. The relationship is linguistic as well as personal, rather than simply a resemblance in the first few letters.
