Antonella

Antonella is an Italian elaboration of Antonia, a feminine form in the ancient Roman Antonius name family. The oldest meaning of Antonius is unknown. Interpretations such as “priceless” or “from Antium” are not secure translations, even though they are often repeated in name lists.

Singer Antonella Ruggiero is a notable bearer. Toni, Nella, and Nellie offer quite different nickname sounds, while Antonela is a neighboring spelling with one l. Families can use Antonella to honor an Anthony or Antonia through a related form. Its Italian structure and fuller ending provide the connection without requiring an invented literal meaning.
