What does Ares mean?
Ares means “Greek mythological name; meaning uncertain”.
Ares is the name of the Greek god of war, the son of Zeus and Hera in Greek mythology. The name’s older etymology is uncertain, although explanations involving ruin or conflict have been proposed. The mythological identity is more secure than any one literal translation.
Ares should not be confused with Aries, the zodiac sign represented by a ram. The spellings are close and can sound similar in English, but their histories are different. Families considering Ares may want to weigh its strong mythological association alongside its short form. It needs no longer formal name or built-in nickname.
