Aziah

Aziah is a modern name that can be understood as a shortened or altered form of Hebrew Asaiah, traditionally meaning “the Lord has made.” That connection is plausible, but it should not be assumed for every bearer. Some families may instead be drawn to its resemblance to Asia or to other names ending in iah.

Those possible routes also lead to different pronunciations, making the family's intended sound especially important. Asaiah makes the biblical connection clearer, while Aziah has a shorter written shape and a distinctive z. Azi is an available affectionate form. Parents choosing the name for its religious meaning may want to explain the Asaiah relationship explicitly, rather than rely on the ending alone to communicate the origin they have in mind.
