Blessing

Blessing is an English word name that can express gratitude for a child or a sense of divine favor and care. The ordinary word also describes something welcomed as a gift or benefit. Its meaning is direct, so it does not need an invented ancient name history to explain why a family might choose it.

Used for boys and girls, Blessing makes its message more explicit than a traditional name whose meaning has to be translated. It may appeal to parents considering Grace, Hope, or another word with personal or religious significance. The full name has two clear syllables and works without a nickname. Families may want to consider how comfortable they are with such an expressive statement in everyday introductions as well as in the story behind the name.
