Breanna

Breanna is a feminine form in the Brian name family, closely related to Brianna and Briana. Brian is an old Irish name whose exact meaning is uncertain, though proposed connections include Celtic words for height or strength. That background supports a qualified meaning such as “possibly high or strong,” while the frequently added virtues are broader associations.

The feminine family has a literary connection through Briana in Edmund Spenser’s The Faerie Queene. Breanna is a later spelling within that group, with ea making a different visual pattern from Brianna. Bree and Anna are available short forms drawn directly from the name. For parents honoring a Brian, Breanna preserves that family connection while giving the name a feminine form with its own established spelling and everyday possibilities.
