Brecken

Brecken is a spelling of Breccan, an Irish name associated with the meaning “freckled” or “speckled.” Its history belongs to an existing Irish personal name rather than to the English surnames Beckett and Beckham, despite the similar opening sound. Breckin is another version, familiar through actor Breckin Meyer.

The ending is the main choice when comparing Brecken, Breccan, and Breckin: they can sound much alike in English while looking quite different on paper. Brecken works as a full two-syllable name without needing a longer form. Families interested in the Irish connection may want to compare it directly with Breccan before choosing their preferred spelling.
