Cason

Cason is used as both a surname and a contemporary first name. Its history is not clear enough to reduce to one universal translation. Proposed connections with Cawston or Casey lead to different explanations, while modern parents may choose it mainly for the sound it shares with names such as Mason and Jason.

Case is an easy short form, and Casen, Kason, or Cayson offer nearby spellings. None of those choices makes an uncertain historical derivation more definite. A family inheriting Cason as a surname may have a more specific story to tell. For other families, its concise two-syllable rhythm can be the attraction without a claim that it literally means brave in battle.
