Caspar

Caspar belongs to the Gaspar and Jasper name family, traditionally interpreted as treasurer. The explanation traces the name through Latin and a word ultimately associated with Old Persian. The details of that early route are not entirely certain, so the familiar meaning should be presented as an interpretation with a historical basis.

Caspar is also a name traditionally assigned to one of the Magi who visited the infant Jesus. The biblical account itself does not name those visitors; Caspar belongs to later Christian tradition. This distinction lets families appreciate the religious association without mistaking a later name for one explicitly recorded in the Gospel narrative.
