Corbyn

Corbyn is a form of the surname Corbin, associated with an Old French word for a raven or crow. It belongs to the group of surnames that began as nicknames, sometimes describing an appearance or an association noticed by other people. The bird meaning gives the name a direct natural connection within its family history.

The y spelling is found in the surname as well as in modern given-name use, so it does not have to be understood as a newly invented change. Corbin provides a close spelling to compare. For parents, Corbyn can preserve a family surname or offer an animal-related name whose meaning is less immediately obvious than the English word Raven.
