Crew

Crew is an English word name taken from the term for a group working together. It can suggest a team, a ship’s company, or a rowing crew, depending on the family’s own associations. The modern word has a broader meaning than the narrowly military definition sometimes attached to the name.

Cru and Crue are alternative spellings used as names, but Crew makes the English word connection most immediately visible. Its single syllable gives it a compact sound despite the consonant cluster at the beginning. A family can choose it for an association with teamwork without claiming an older traditional given-name origin.
