Denisse

Denisse is a spelling of Denise used in Spanish-speaking naming. Denise is the French feminine form of Denis, which comes from the Greek Dionysios, a name associated with the god Dionysus. The deeper origin of Dionysus is uncertain, so a literal translation such as god of Nysa is better treated as a proposed explanation than a settled meaning.

The doubled s gives Denisse a distinctive written form while keeping the family connection with Denise visible. A family may choose it to honor a Denise or to preserve a spelling used in its own community. The modern form carries a longer French and Greek name history without requiring the original mythological association to be the reason for choosing it.
