Ender

Ender is an established Turkish name meaning rare. It also has a separate literary route familiar to English-speaking readers: in Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game, Ender is the nickname of Andrew Wiggin. Those two uses share a spelling but do not need the same origin to be meaningful to a family.

The novel and its film adaptation give the name a strong science-fiction association, while Turkish usage provides a history outside that fictional world. Singer Halsey and Alev Aydin also chose Ender for their child, bringing it additional public attention. Its two syllables work easily in English, but a family may value the Turkish meaning, the book, or both as separate parts of the name’s story.
