Erin

Erin is an English poetic name for Ireland, drawn from the Irish form Éirinn. Its clearest meaning is the place itself, rather than the expanded phrase “island to the west.” The name can express an Irish connection without claiming that every bearer has a particular family history or that the spelling is a direct translation of a personal quality.

Erin has two syllables and a compact four-letter shape. It may be chosen as a heritage name, a place tribute, or simply for its sound. Although it can sound similar to Aaron in some English accents, the two have different origins. That distinction is useful when comparing names by ear or explaining an Irish family connection.
