Estevan

Estevan is a Spanish-language form related to Esteban and Stephen. The name family begins with Greek Stephanos, meaning a crown or garland, especially the wreath given as an honor. Its Christian history includes Stephen, remembered in Acts as an early martyr.

The spelling with v reflects the close relationship of b and v in Spanish pronunciation, though Estevan and Esteban remain separate written forms. This is not a new name created by adding a decorative ending to Steve; it belongs to the broader international Stephanos family. Families may choose Estevan for a Spanish-speaking heritage, an ancestral spelling, or a Stephen namesake. The crown-related meaning remains the same connection behind those different forms.
