Evelin

Evelin is a form of Evelina used in German, Estonian, and Hungarian. The wider family connects with older names such as Aveline and Ava, whose earliest meaning is uncertain. That history is more reliable than assigning a single attractive translation to every form of the name, since several explanations have circulated over time.

Evelin has an established identity in the languages that use it, rather than being only a new English respelling of Evelyn. Its sound also changes between languages, making a family's own pronunciation important. Evelina and Eveline provide closely related forms for parents exploring the family, while Evelin keeps the compact ending that characterizes its German, Estonian, and Hungarian use.
