Evelina

Evelina belongs to the family of names that includes Eveline, Evelyn, and the older French Aveline. The deeper origin of that family is uncertain, so proposed meanings such as “desired,” “water,” or “island” are alternatives rather than a single reliable translation. Its resemblance to Eve also does not mean every use derives directly from the biblical name.

The longer ending makes Evelina distinct from Evelyn in both rhythm and spelling. Evie and Lina offer different familiar forms, drawing from opposite ends of the name. Its historic use alongside shorter relatives gives it a period character, while its place within a wider European name family explains why related forms can sound different from one language to another.
