Gracie

Gracie is an affectionate form of Grace that also works as a complete first name. It keeps the English word’s associations with kindness, elegance, and, in a religious setting, divine favor. The -ie ending changes the sound and style rather than introducing a separate literal meaning.

Figure skater Gracie Gold is a recognizable bearer, and Gracie has also appeared as a character name on television. Families deciding between Grace and Gracie may prefer to keep the shorter formal name with a nickname, or to use the everyday form all the time. Neither choice requires a longer name such as Graciela, which belongs to a related but different naming tradition.
