Hallie

Hallie is an established short form of Harriet that also stands on its own. Through Harriet it belongs to the Henry name family, traditionally associated with ruling a household or estate. This personal-name history is different from interpreting Hallie as a landscape phrase about a meadow beside a hall.

In familiar English use, Hallie rhymes with alley. That makes it distinct from Hailey, despite the similar letters, and from Holly's different first vowel. Halle is a close spelling comparison, though its pronunciation can depend on the bearer. Families honoring a Harriet can choose Hallie directly or keep Harriet as the formal name and Hallie for everyday use.
