Hart

Hart is an English word for a male deer and also an established surname. In English surname history, the animal word could be used as a nickname or appear in a reference to a place or sign. Other families called Hart can have different origins, so the stag meaning describes one clear route rather than every family line.

The sound is identical to heart, which gives modern English listeners an additional association with affection. That is a wordplay connection rather than the original animal meaning. Hart therefore offers two layers that a family can keep distinct: a nature image in its spelling and a warmer emotional echo when spoken. Its four letters allow both associations to fit within a very brief name.
