Haze

Haze can be an English word name referring to reduced clarity in the atmosphere, or a modern spelling related to the surname Hayes. Those are separate naming routes. A family choosing the weather word may value its misty image, while a family honoring a Hayes may care primarily about the shared sound.

The z makes Haze immediately recognizable as the ordinary English word. Hayes keeps the surname spelling and may have a different family-specific origin. Both are brief one-syllable choices, but matching pronunciation does not make their meanings identical. Haze also has everyday figurative uses, so considering the word in ordinary conversation is part of choosing this particular name.
