Jett

Jett is a spelling of the English word name Jet, with a second t. One association is jet, the black material used in jewelry; another is jet aircraft and travel. These meanings come from different uses of the word rather than from an ancient personal name meaning “excellence.”

For parents, the choice of association can change how Jett feels: it may be a gemstone name beside Onyx and Jade, or a name linked with flight. The single-syllable pronunciation is the same as the everyday word. Jet is the simpler alternative spelling. Jett can be a complete first name on its own, so it does not need to be presented as a shortening of Jetson or a distant form of Jordan.
