Johana

Johana is a form of Johanna, one of the feminine names descended from John. Its Hebrew background gives it the meaning “God is gracious.” The single n makes it a distinct spelling within a large international family that also includes Joanna and other forms adapted to different languages.

Johana is found in Czech, Slovak, and Spanish-speaking contexts, where its pronunciation follows local patterns. That means the same written name may begin with different sounds depending on the family's language. Jo and Hana can serve as affectionate short forms, while the full name remains easy to recognize. For parents honoring a John or Johanna, it offers a clear family relationship with a spelling that may fit their own cultural background more naturally.
