Jovi

Jovi can be connected with Jove, another name for the Roman god Jupiter, and it also has a prominent musical association through Bon Jovi. Those are different reasons a family might choose the same spelling. A literal translation such as “father of the sky” belongs to the deeper history proposed for Jupiter, not automatically to every modern Jovi.

The name is used for boys and girls and has two open syllables. Jo is an available shortening, while Jove is a related form for parents specifically interested in the mythological route. A rock-music tribute can be meaningful on its own; it does not require the family to adopt the Roman religious connection as well.
