Jrue

Jrue is a modern spelling of Drew, representing the sound of that familiar name in a different way. Drew is often a short form of Andrew, whose Greek background is associated with manhood or being manly. That connection comes through Andrew; Jrue itself is not a separate ancient word with its own translation.

The initial Jr combination is visually distinctive even when the intended spoken name sounds like Drew. It should not be read as the abbreviation Jr. for Junior. Families who like Drew's one-syllable rhythm but prefer this spelling can use Jrue as a complete given name. Andrew remains a possible honor-name connection rather than a longer form that must appear on official documents.
