Justice

Justice is an English word name expressing fairness, impartiality, and the principle of giving people what is due to them. Its vocabulary ultimately traces through French to Latin. As a personal name it belongs to the virtue-name tradition, making the intended value more immediate than a meaning that requires translating an unfamiliar older language.

The name is used for boys and girls and does not require a longer formal version. Justus shares its Latin word family but is a separate established name, rather than simply an alternative spelling of Justice. Parents may choose Justice for an ethical ideal, a family commitment, or its clear sound. The association with courts and judges is also likely to be familiar in everyday English.
