Kairi

Kairi is a Japanese name whose meaning depends on the characters used to write it. It is often associated with the sea, but a spelling in the Latin alphabet cannot by itself establish one complete Japanese meaning. Families choosing it for a particular translation should consider the intended Japanese written form as well as the sound.

Outside Japan, Kairi is familiar through the Kingdom Hearts video game series, where it is the name of a central female character. The name is also used for boys. Kai offers an easy short form, although Kairi works well unshortened. Its two clear syllables may appeal to parents who like Kai and want a longer, distinct option.
