Kaladin

Kaladin is a literary name from Brandon Sanderson's fantasy series The Stormlight Archive. The character is known as Kaladin Stormblessed and belongs to the fictional world of Roshar. The name's clearest origin is that specific work, rather than a securely documented translation from a real-world language.

For a family familiar with the books, Kaladin carries the associations of the character's story and his place in the series. Kal offers a short form, but the full name makes the literary reference much more visible. Similar-sounding traditional Cal names should not be treated as its ancestors without evidence. Kaladin can therefore be described accurately as an author-created choice without inventing an ancient warrior meaning.
