Kashton

Kashton is a modern constructed name combining Kash or Cash with an ending familiar from surnames such as Ashton. It is not an established old place-name that can securely be translated as “money town.” The contemporary construction is the clearer account of its use.

Kash is the natural short form, while Cash preserves the ordinary English word spelling. Families may choose Kashton because they want a longer formal name with that brief nickname. A personal combination of relatives’ names could provide another explanation. None of these routes requires inventing a historical settlement or occupation to justify the full form.
