Kasper

Kasper belongs to the Casper and Jasper name family, traditionally connected with a Persian word for a treasurer. The name traveled through several languages, producing related forms such as Kaspar and Gaspard. Its long history is especially associated with the traditional names given to the Magi in Christian storytelling.

Those Magi names are part of later tradition rather than being listed in the biblical account itself. Kasper preserves a form familiar in several European languages, with the k giving it a distinct appearance beside Casper. For a family considering it, the historical and cultural connections offer more substance than the simplified phrase bringer of treasure alone can convey.
