Keeley

Keeley is a spelling of Keely, derived from an Irish surname commonly traced to Ó Caolaidhe. That surname refers to descent from a personal name connected with caol, meaning slender. The short translation “slender” summarizes the older name element rather than the complete surname’s structure.

Actor Keeley Hawes is a familiar bearer of this spelling. Keely and Keeleigh are related forms, while Kelly and Kylie have different histories despite their similar appearance or sound. Keeley’s use as a first name preserves a surname tradition, and the historical descriptive meaning does not imply a required body type. An inherited family spelling may be particularly important when choosing among the closely related forms.
