Kellan

Kellan is a spelling of Kellen, a name whose earlier history is uncertain. One proposed route goes through a German surname associated with a swampy area, while other explanations connect similar names with different roots. The modern spelling does not settle those questions, so “slender” and “swamp” should not be presented as interchangeable proven meanings.

Actor Kellan Lutz, who played Emmett Cullen in the Twilight films, gives this exact spelling a recognizable association. Kell is a possible short form, and Kellen offers the same familiar two-syllable sound with a different ending. A family surname or namesake can supply a more specific personal connection than an uncertain ancient translation.
