Landen

Landen is a spelling variation of Landon, an English surname and place name usually interpreted as “long hill.” That landscape meaning comes from older English elements rather than the modern word “land” alone. It gives a contemporary-looking first name a connection to the way settlements and families were once identified by their surroundings.

Landon and Landen generally sound alike, so choosing between them is mostly a spelling decision. Landen has a softer-looking final syllable, while Landon is the more familiar surname-style form. Lanny is a possible affectionate nickname, though the full two syllables are easy to use daily. Parents drawn to understated nature meanings may prefer this landscape connection to a more obvious word name.
