Lauryn

Lauryn is a spelling of Lauren, part of the wider family associated with Laurence, Laurentum, and laurel. Those connections are related but not identical: a place-name explanation and a direct botanical association describe different stages of the history. The y spelling does not introduce a new ancient root of its own.

Singer Lauryn Hill is a familiar bearer of this exact form. Lauren offers the closest spelling comparison, while Laura has a more visibly direct connection with the laurel family. A family may prefer Lauryn because it matches a relative or a namesake. The full name generally keeps Lauren's two-syllable rhythm, so the written distinction is especially significant.
