Laynie

Laynie is a modern familiar form associated with names such as Elaine, Laine, and Lane. Those possible sources do not all share one origin, so the exact meaning depends on the family’s intended connection. The spelling may also be chosen independently for the lay-nee sound rather than as a formal shortening.

The y makes the first vowel visually prominent, while ie provides the familiar ee ending. Elaine offers a longer personal-name comparison, whereas Lane is also an English word and surname with a separate history. Keeping those alternatives distinct is more useful than assigning Laynie a single meaning that may not belong to the version a family intends.
